Hi everybody! This is mostly about the the canvas prints I make myself - those ordered through Strangeling.com. PLEASE NOTE: these are not the canvases offered through Zazzle, just the ones I make myself that are sold through my gallery here at Strangeling.com. For Zazzle canvas questions, scroll to the bottom of this page. These are also not the Pop Gallery Exclusive Limited Edition Canvases (those are exclusive to Pop Gallery at Downtown Disney and are not available from Strangeling.com). More info about Pop Gallery or Zazzle prints is below at the bottom of this page.
My hand-embellished limited edition prints are on canvas, and they are a very, very special and unique type of artwork! These are truly the next best thing to owning an original painting, and they are at a very affordable price.
Q: What does "Limited Edition" mean?
A: Because of the time and effort spent on each print, each image is limited to just 25 prints in each edition! That means that only 25 of each picture will ever be made in the hand-embellished canvas print edition. Once they have sold out - they are gone forever! Each print is signed both on the back and on the front along with the "number" which shows which print number in the edition of 25 that specific print is. This "Horned Fairy" canvas print, for example, is number #01 of 25:
Q: What does "Hand Embellished" mean?
A: Hand embellished means that I, the artist, have hand painted small details and accents on each and every canvas with my usual acrylic paints and paint brushes. I also hand-sign and number the prints in paint. I then paint each piece with a glossy giclee UV varnish which seals in the paint and inks.
Q: What does a "canvas print" mean?
A: Much like it sounds, it means that instead of being printed on a piece of paper, my canvas prints are instead printed on special sheets of artist's canvas! They are cloth canvas sheets made by Fredrix (the same company that makes the canvases I use for my original paintings!). It looks and feels just like a real original painting - I myself can barely tell the difference! The prints are easily rolled up for shipping or storage, and can easily fit standard frame sizes.
Q: Can you tell me more about the process?
A: After the prints have been printed on the sheets of canvas, I then do the hand-embellishing with the paints & paint brushes, adding small details, signing & numbering the prints in paint. I then hand-paint the entire surface of each print with a giclee glossy varnish which provides UV-protection, a waterproof barrier, a nice glossy finish, and it shows my actual brushstrokes which makes it look even more like an original painting. The canvas print is then "heat set" at a high temperature to keep the ink from fading and making it water-resistant and very durable! These beautiful and unique works of art truly are the "next best thing" to owning an original painting. Even as the actual artist myself, I find it difficult to tell the difference between one of these gorgeous prints and one of my original paintings!!!
Q: Can I request a specific number in the edition?
A: Yes and no! The #01 first print of each edition is auctioned on eBay to make it fair to everybody. To see any new #01 canvas prints I have up on eBay right now just click HERE . If you are purchasing off ot the website and would like a specific number in the edition (other than number #01 or #25), please indicate your choice in the "Notes" section of the payment form. I CANNOT guarantee that the number is available - it may have long since sold, and if that is the case I will substitute the next lowest number in the edition. If you would like to hear about new first edition canvas prints as they are available for auction, simply join my update mailing list:
Since each signature & number & other embellishments are hand painted, each is unique and will vary from piece to piece. The number will of course correspond with each numbered print of the edition.

Q: Why do they cost so much more than a regular print?
A: Once you have seen one in person, you will definitely understand! Each piece is effectively a unique painting, and each one takes a good deal of time for me to make, each one hand made by me, the artist. Once a collector of mine has seen one of my Limited Edition Hand-Embellished Canvas Prints, they typically purchase them exclusively from then on!
Q: What sizes do the Canvas Prints come in?
A: Each image is only available in one single size. The size is determined by the size of the original painting itself. Smaller original paintings are avialable in the 8"x10" canvas print size (an approximately 8"x10" image on a sheet of 8.5"x11" canvas, with the white mounting border for easy framing). Larger original paintings are available in the 11"x14" canvas print size (an approximately 11"x14" image on a sheet of 11"x17" canvas with a white border for mounting). Refer to each individual painting for specific measurements. If you email ME immediately after ordering and ask nicely, we would be happy to wrap/stretch on boards & add a hanger (PLEASE NOTE: they will then be printed about 1" on all sides SMALLER to accommodate the wrapping on boards).

To order canvases from Strangeling.com - just visit my galleries, and click on the painting you'd like. Once you enlarge the thumbnail, the purchasing options are in the upper right hand corner - select "Buy Now" next to Lt. Ed. Canvas print!
To order canvases from Zazzle, visit my Zazzle print store HERE - click on the painting you'd like a canvas for, and it will take you to that image's page. In the upper right hand corner, you will see a box that says "print options". The first option is "Size" (pick a size), but after that is an option called "Media". Click Media. There are four options, two of which are canvas - you can select Platinum Matte UV Canvas or Platinum Gloss UV Canvas - some folks prefer not-so-shiny, some folks prefer shiny. I prefer shiny =) Then you can add the framing or matting elements under the third option, Framing.
Q: Do they come stretched/wrapped?
A: Unless you request otherwise, they are loose canvas sheets, shipped rolled in a tube if it is an 11x14 (or flat in reinforced cardboard if it is an 8x10). If you email ME immediately after ordering and ask nicely, we would be happy to wrap/stretch on boards & add a hanger - it will be the same size, and about 1" deep/thick.
Q: You have stretched ones at the art shows & conventions I've been to - I've seen them!
A: It's true - we do stretch & hang just a few of the Limited Edition Hand Embellished Canvases for display at various art shows. If you'd like one - come see me at one of my shows - my upcoming appearances are HERE! If you email ME immediately after ordering and ask nicely, we would be happy to wrap/stretch on boards & add a hanger - it will be the same size, and about 1" deep/thick.. My assistant Chris though occasionally offers some from my shows here in our Magical_Figurines eBay division - CLICK HERE to see if he has any up now!
Q: How should I display them?
A: As I said, we can stretch them upon request and you can hang them right away or have them framed yourself. Lots of folks prefer them unstretched/loose just display them flat behind a mat, framed with UV glass/plexiglass. The mat provides a spacer so that the glass does not touch the varnished surface of the paint/print. If you take an unstretched canvas to a frame shop, ask for it to be "hinge mounted" (basically acid-free framer's tape is applied to the back of the canvas, and the back of the mat, and then popped into a frame). That's my suggestion!
Q: Can I get a specific number?
A: Possibly! If you have a specific number you'd like - for example if your lucky number is 13 and you'd like #13/25 of a canvas edition, I'd be happy to accommodate you. As long as we still have that one and haven't already sold it! So EMAIL ME at JasmineToad@aol.com first if you want a specific number, then I can look it up and tell you if we have it. We CANNOT give you either #01 or #25 as both the first and the last in each edition is sold via auction (since you collectors really want those, to be fair to all of you I have to do it this way!).
