Jasmine’s Event Canceled by Storm, FOF Month, More Coloring Book News, Ninja Dragonlings, Calendars and more!

Updates from Jasmine!

Another big update – wow, we have been busy!

Firstly – thank you all who have sent kind & worried messages to us about the hurricane!  Please don’t worry, we are fine, we live very near Orlando in Central Florida, Irma should be only a tropical storm  (or less than a hurricane) by the time she arrives here.  We’ve been through Cat 4s before in our fortress of a house and have never had problems, we are all set. Probably just a bunch of rain here.

That being said, just to be on the safe side, Disney has unfortunately canceled my WonderGround Co-Op tomorrow night (wind & rain of any sort aren’t good for art shows!).  They have however scheduled me for three more new events at Disney Springs – mark your calendars – November 11 (4-7pm at the Co-Op), December 9 (6-9pm at the Pop Gallery), December 16 (4-7 at the Co-Op).  I’ll add them to my official events page here SOON.

The Kansas City Renaissance Festival is in full swing and my shop is open every weekend, #251 over by the Joust!  I’ll be there in person for sure on September 30, October 1, October 7, October 8 if you’d like autographs.

Thank you all who came to see us at DragonCon and made it our best DragonCon ever!!  Were you not able to come but still want to score some for the FREE DragonCon swag?  We snagged a ton of the extra DC Room Key Cards I designed (and autographed), set aside 8 of the DC Strangeling reusable giant plastic carrier bags, and have half a dozen each of the backups of the DragonCon Exclusive Pins!  No, I will not sell these, but I will be giving them away as prizes randomly to my Patreon Patrons sometime next week!  Sign up for Patreon here to get in on the giveaways next week, we’ll have dozens of winners!

One of my new paintings that debuted at DragonCon was “Ninja Dragonlings!” The original sold at the show but we now have prints & canvases on sale this week on my website here.

Big announcement – September is Faces of Faery Fan Month!  All 240 Faces of Faery prints (including all canvases) here at my website are 25% off with code FOF25 .  We’ll also be doing fun things like auctioning off your own custom Faces of Faery later this month, releasing some classic #1s that have been in the vault, and showing off some brand new original FOFs!
mermaidscoloringbookjasmine
Would you like your Mermaids Coloring book a couple months before everybody else, no matter where you live?  Would you also like it autographed?  Well, we are getting a limited number of advance author copies that will be IN STOCK IN OCTOBER and I can autograph them for you!  We have them up for pre-order on my website here, we ship worldwide (we can’t offer the low prices Amazon can, lol, but hey – they’re autographed!).  All the bookstores are saying “Mid December” for shipping, and theirs won’t be autographed, so this is kinda neat for you earlybirds!

Next up – in case anybody missed the announcement, in other coloring news – starting next week – we are going to start offering free coloring pages to my Patreon patrons – completely different than any pictures found in my coloring books, these will be all new, downloadable Patreon Exclusive Coloring pages – this new benefit will be added to all the other Patreon perks for patrons at the $5+ tier level.  Not a member? Get up there now and get in on the ground floor, click here for details.  This will help tide you all over while we wait for the Mermaids Coloring Book (again though, the Patreon Exclusive Coloring Pages will not be found in any coloring book – so don’t worry about duplicates, these will be all new!)

And finally – Brushdance has just released my 2018 Calendar!  The Strangeling 2018 Calendar is available worldwide!  There is a wall calendar (12 pictures, full sized) and a weekly planner (just artwork on the cover).  Just go to Google and search:  Strangeling 2018 Calendar  (don’t call it the Jasmine Becket-Griffith Calendar as some bookstores don’t bother with my long windy name).  Or click for – Amazon, or  AmazonUK , BookDepository (free delivery worldwide!), Calendars.com , Brushdance.com – all sorts of places have it in stock now.

The same weekend, the Kansas City Renaissance Festival opens!  I can’t be in both places at once, so my family will be running my shop at the KC Renfest while I am in DragonCon.  Right after DragonCon I am back in Florida- Saturday, September 9th 4-7pm at Disney Springs WonderGround Gallery inside the Marketplace Co-Op!  Details about the event are here and additional upcoming event details are here

Join Jasmine in Africa – March 2019 – for an Art Safari Adventure!

A Very Special Update…

Those of you at Patreon saw this coming, but to everybody else – here’s the big news!

(EDIT:  some spots have already been taken as of 4:00PM EST, so if you are in any way interested in potentially going – please email [email protected] asap so they can start planning!!)

Anybody want to come with me to Africa in 2019?  I’m returning, this time to run my own “Art Safari!” ALL the details are here (or just Google Jasmine Becket-Griffith African Art Safari ) and the full itinerary is available as a PDF available here  Everybody is welcome, whether you are an artist, want to be an artist, just happen to like art, or just want to go on vacation with me & Matt to Africa for a couple weeks!

Email [email protected]  if you are in any way interested, they can hold  a spot for you  (that’s my friend who runs the tours, not my husband Matty, hehe).

This will be in March 2019 – we have plenty of time to plan and to save $$ =)

There is a limit of 20 students/travelers, so even if you are only *slightly* interested, let [email protected]  know asap.

I went to Africa last year (South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia) with some musician friends with the same tour group, on a music themed safari.  Matt (from Tourica tours) has invited me to come back and this time hold an Art workshop themed safari.

For a photographic odyssey courtesy of my brother-in-law Paul Andrews – he has posted photographs he took when we went on last year’s trip to Africa together with our musician friends.  Click HERE to see them (he is a professional photographer so they are glorious photos to entertain you either way!)   Of course instead of Robyn playing concerts, our trip will have me doing artsy stuff, painting, optional workshops, etc. – but we will be visiting much the same itinerary (with the exception of some of the Johannesburg photos at the top of the page, as our trip will be slightly shorter).

Tourica Tours (I can speak from experience both as a customer, friend & client) do a simply amazing job of creating a laidback but luxurious, hassle-free way of traveling around Africa.  I can’t wait to go back!

I’ll be doing lectures, live painting demonstrations, art workshops, etc. throughout the tour.  My husband Matty of course will be coming too (he has never been to Africa and is super excited).  We’ll stay in a variety of different lodgings – luxury Safari “glamping”, nice hotels/apartments in Cape Town, fun boat rides down the Zambezi, a few nights right by Victoria Falls (one of the most stunning places I have ever been), & more.  The safari drives are amazing, you will see all the animals you would expect to see & then tons more, all out in the wild!  (Some of you might remember my elephants story…… 😉 )

It ain’t cheap, but it is truly a trip of a lifetime and worth every single penny & then some.  The accommodations are super nice, food everywhere is great (I’m vegetarian and had all sorts of great veggie options everywhere).  Let me see – it’s at $6999 which means if you can set aside $10 – $12/day until the trip, lol, you’d have it covered…. plenty of advance notice!  ;P

ALL the details and FAQ are on the official website here

The full itinerary is available as a PDF available here

Again -email [email protected]  if you have any travel or tour related questions.

Please feel free to ask me (email me at [email protected] , don’t respond only to this mailing list update as I may not see it, just email me at [email protected] ) if you have any questions for me about the art side of things, or about the places we’ll be visiting (as these are all places I love and have mostly visited before in person!).

I hope some of you are able to join me!  Again, while it is art themed you do NOT have to be an artist, this is for all skill levels and you can choose however much you would like to participate (or not).  The photography opportunities on this vacation are amazing, even just with an iPhone you can get fantastic images.  Or just bring your colouring books and colour along while I’m painting =)  I’ll be staying in the same hotels, eating at the same table, sitting in the same van, etc. as you all (and Matty of course) so I’m looking at this as a great way to meet some of you in person, get to be friends and have a magical journey.

Check out Tourica Tours on Facebook or Instagram @touricatours ,or again, my brother-in-law Paul’s photos from our last vacation Click HERE) to get a great sense of what we will see & do on this adventure!  We saw everything from wild penguins to lions, from Victoria Falls to the Cape of Good Hope.

XO
Jasmine

Jasmine in Seattle & California, Free Pins, New Artwork, Perpetual Calendar, ACEOs and more!

Updates from Jasmine!

Big update today!

Firstly – we still have some of the free 20th Anniversary pins for the Strangeling.com giveaway!  We’ve already given out nearly half of them, so the sooner you can get an order in – the better (they will probably not last for the full month unfortunately, they are going fast!).  We are including a free “Time Flies” pin in each order over $25 placed at Strangeling.com for the month of July (or while supplies last, I made about 200 of the pins).

Next up – we are currently on our West Coast summer tour!  TONIGHT (July 8)  I will be in Seattle for my appearance at the Insectarium group show at Eight and Sand Gallery (part of Georgetown’s Art Atttack art walk) – details are here – I’ll be there from 6-9pm tonight (Saturday) in person, details are here.  I have new original paintings (four full sized, two Tiny Treasures), prints and canvases there and I’m happy to autograph anything from the show or what you bring with you from home.

July 13, 14 & 15th I will be in Anaheim, California for Disney’s D23 Expo, debuting my new “Princess Aurora” painting for Disney!  Details about the specific signing/autograph events & painting debut are here.

The evening of July 15 in Los Angeles, I have a new original painting  “Poissons Volants: Les Poissons Roses” debuting at the Corey Helford Gallery downtown.  It is part of the group show “Defying Gallery” – I am not “officially” doing a live autograph signing, but I will casually be dropping by for the opening that evening for at least a bit (just with friends to check out the show) – if you see me, say hi!  =)

We return July 17 from the west coast, so in the meantime if you place an order for an original painting or for a limited edition hand embellished canvas in the next week or two we will have a short delay (as I have to wait until I’m back in my studio to ship those personally!) – everything else though (prints, pins, books, etc.) will be shipping as always with no delay.

Next – I have a new painting to show you!  The piece I did for the Three Wishes Faery Festival is now available as prints & canvases (the original painting has been SOLD).  You can order those here at Strangeling.com (and remember, if you order more than $25 you’ll get the FREE Time Flies anniversary pin!).

Speaking of original paintings, I have been working on several new ones for upcoming gallery shows and for DragonCon!  Check out my Instagram (ID: Strangeling) or Facebook here to see these works-in-progress.

Another new project I’m happy to announce is my PERPETUAL CALENDAR – an enormous project consisting of a perpetual calendar with 60+ tiles (including special event tiles for birthdays, seasons, etc. with my paintings on them) and 12 handpainted figurines – all on a specially-built calendar shelf.  Perpetual calendars can be used year after year, as you arrange the days of the week, holidays & date yourself with the tiles – super neat.  It is in the pre-order stage so it is currently first available to USA customers at the Bradford Exchange – you can order here.  Live outside the US?  Don’t worry, after the release it will pop up at the international shipping site Burning Desires here later this year after the release for worldwide shipping anywhere on the globe.

And finally – ACEOs!  I have a bunch of new ACEO cards up for auction on eBay, each starting at literally one penny, each one will be popping up a different day this week while I’m out of town click here to see them all…… I will be back home in time to ship these out with no delay.
