Death and the Maiden - a popular motif in Renaissance art, also in poetry and song (particularly Franz Schubert's beautiful song of the same name). A beautiful blonde maiden is approached by the ghastly spectre of Death (represented here by a yucky skeleton). A stunning painting, and a thought-provoking theme, to be sure.
The original painting was on an oval canvas, so I've put the print image on a solid rectangular dark background - so this way it would look great framed or matted either oval OR standard rectangle. These fine art fantasy prints are made from my own original acrylic painting. Open Edition prints are on glossy photo paper and measurements include a white mounting border. The 8.5"x11" size fits a standard 8"x10" frame, and the 13"x19" size fits a standard 12"x16" frame. Canvas prints are Hand Embellished, measure 11"x14" and are limited to an edition of 25. The copyright watermark does not appear in the actual print! See below for detail images.
