Kali! There is a lot of colour squeezed into this one! I've long been fascinated with Hindu artwork - devotional images of the beautiful gods and goddesses with their mysterious blue skin used to intrigue me as a child. Kali - possibly my favourite - an incarnation of the mother goddess - but a VERY powerful force to be reckoned with! She's often depicted with severed heads, wreaking her vengence on those who cross her.... I've taken a more subtle approach and have given her a garland of skulls. I've portrayed her in the traditional Daksinakali dancing pose, and this REALLY is a beautiful painting. The colours are MUCH better and more vibrant in real life. Open Edition prints are on glossy photo paper and measurements include a white mounting border.
***PLEASE NOTE: Since this was a tall LONG painting, the prints are as well! These open edition prints are a little longer and skinnier than my usual prints and only come in one size - the printed image is approximately 4.5" wide and 18.5" tall, printed on a 13"x19" sheet of paper (with a white mounting border). The Lt. Ed. Canvas prints are 4"x16" on an 11"x17" canvas sheet and are Hand Embellished, limited to an edition of 25. The copyright watermark does not appear in the actual print! See left for details of this beautiful picture.
