Memento Mori - is a Latin phrase roughly translated as "Remember you are mortal." It is a common motif in my own paintings as well as being an entire genre of Renaissance painters - often the masters would include a skull or skeleton juxtaposed with a beautiful maiden to act as a memento mori. Not only being a reminder of mortality, it can also be considered along the lines of "Eat, Drink and Be Merry - For Tomorrow We May Die" - "Seize the Day" type of idea. This was a fun piece to paint - originally my husband Matt created the wood panel & frame in the original painting. **PLEASE NOTE: The original painting was oddly shaped and on wood, so I've put this print image on a solid rectangular background - so this way it would look great framed or matted in a standard frame OR custom matted. The open edition prints are on a white background as shown, the CANVAS prints are on a BLACK background (not shown). These prints are NOT FRAMED - the picture of the original frame is in the printed image on the print itself. These fine art fantasy prints are made from my own original acrylic painting. Open Edition prints are on glossy photo paper and measurements include a white mounting border. The 8.5"x11" size has a printed image of 8.7"x8.2" and the 13"x19" size has a printed image of 13"x12.5" . Canvas prints are Hand Embellished, have a printed image of about 8.5"x10.2" on a BLACK background and are limited to an edition of 25 and are on a BLACK background with a white mounting border.
