New Stuff – big update today!

So much new stuff to show you today!
I have two brand new paintings (from my Stilleven and Tableaux Vivants series), a new Custom Painting opportunity up for sale, a work-in-progress sneak peek for another custom painting, yet another exciting Tarot project, and possibly the BEST news of all – we have now introduced Open Edition Canvases to strangeling.com for all of the sold out canvases. That means if you missed out on the Limited Editions, you can now buy an open edition of all your favourites, with a signed COA. Be sure to scroll down to see all the new stuff!

“Stilleven VII: Bloesem”

10×12 Original Painting $3300 SOLD Prints & Canvases are HERE

“Stilleven VII: Bloesem” is the seventh in a series of works I have planned that feature “deconstructed” elements of still lifes inspired by the Dutch master painters of the 1500-1600s, along with lovely girls, faeries & nymphs (of course!). Stilleven is Dutch for “Still Life” and “Bloesem” means “blossom”. A lot of beautiful flowers in this one (tulips, irises), some grapes, and a skull for vanitas – all popular elements included in famous Dutch still lifes. This is my own original acrylic painting, hand painted on panel. Original painting has sold, but we have prints & canvases available! You can choose between large or small signed glossy paper prints ($9.99-$19.99 on sale this week) or the 11″x13″ Hand Embellished Limited Edition Canvas Prints (ready-to-hang!) for $125 – using the drop-down box under the Fine Art Prints options here: Prints & Canvases
We are happy to ship worldwide!

“Tableaux Vivants II: Roger & Angelica”

12×16″ Original Painting $4500 SOLD , Prints & Canvases are HERE

The second in my “Tableaux Vivants” series (living pictures) – a surreal incorporation of my traditional female figurative portraits along with tiny magical scenes from historic or mythological imagery seemingly come to life. This painting is inspired by the 1819 Ingres painting of the knight Roger saving the princess Angelica from the sea monster (just saw it at the Louvre) with a rococo portrait – might be one of my favourites so far. The original has been sold, but the next best thing – the Limited Edition Canvas prints are now available for $125 each, hand embellished by me in acrylic paints, signed & numbered out of 25, wrapped on boards & ready-to-hang, 11×14″. These canvases can be purchased at Strangeling.com here (just select the Lt. Ed. Canvas option under the Fine Art Prints dropdown box). Also on this page you can purchase the 8×10″ and 12×16″ glossy paper prints (signed by me on the back) – HERE
Prefer eBay? The Lt. Ed. Canvas Prints are HERE

And also on eBay, the glossy paper prints are signed on the back by me:

Your own CUSTOM painting!

6″x6″ Original $1600 – Faces of Faery – you tell me how to finish her!

These are always such fun! Basically an unfinished painting from my Faces of Faery series. Whomever purchases her will get to tell me how to finish her – what colour hair/skin/eyes, theme, background, wings/jewelry/tattoos – maybe a small pet – whatever we can fit into the 6×6″ original painting. Details are in the eBay listing HERE

Here is a sneak peek of the previous Custom Painting that I’m working on right now! The winner of this one decided she wanted an Elvish girl with a baby dragon, she’s coming along nicely:

And here are the results of some of my previous “Custom” Faces of Faery:

78 Tarot Project!

The 78 Tarot Project Kickstarter is now LIVE – reserve your deck HERE

This is the deck featuring 78 different artists, for which I painted the “High Priestess” Card – my Loup-Garou: La Grande Pretresse piece with the wolves. Myself, Larry Elmore, Meredith Dillman, Delphine Griffin, Tanya Bond, Tiffany Toland-Scott, Carrie Hawks so many great artists are in it – representing many genres and media.
You can even see a short video of me discussing the project HERE (scroll down to the “Meet some of the Artists” YouTube Video)

There is a special Jasmine Becket-Griffith package as part of the Kickstarter – the $250 level gets a limited edition canvas of my High Priestess painting as well as aspecial card deck that has my painting on the cover (and additional rewards too).

The Kickstarter runs for 30 days to raise the funds for the publication, so any little bit helps. Definitely take the time to look through the kickstarter page, there are videos, previews of all the cards, a website showing all the artists, and more. Every dollar helps, and a $45 pledge gets you the deck, shout-outs on the website, and additional rewards, definitely check it out. Every dollar helps, and there are a lot of wonderful people who have worked hard on this project – please share with any Tarot lovers in your life!

Speaking of Tarot – be sure to pre-order my “Beautiful Creatures” Tarot Deck – it is up on Amazon HERE and will be published in December. 78 Cards all with my paintings!

Open Edition Canvases now online!

For the first time ever, Open Edition Canvases are now online HERE

Did you miss out on your favourite painting as a Lt. Ed. Canvas? Good news! We now have the OPEN edition canvases (with a signed COA) up at Strangeling.com HERE .
They have been added up there for ALL of the Limited Editions that have sold out. These are like the ones we have at the Renaissance Festival, art shows, etc. – on the deep stretcher bars, 12″x16″ (or 8×10 or 10×10 depending on the painting), they are remarqued with my initials on the front and come with a signed certificate of authenticity, truly the next best thing to the Limited Editions.

These are only available online once all the Limited Editions are sold, and are priced at $125 (or $95 for those that are 8×10 or 10×10). Yes, we ship worldwide. We will continue to add Open Edition Canvases as more Limited Editions continue to sell out. These are not numbered, not hand embellished, not limited in edition, but they are quite nice and come with the signed COA, so they are definitely the next best thing if you missed out on the original or the limited editions.

The Open Edition Remarqued Canvas option is on the Dropdown box on each image at the link HERE

Strangeling T-Shirts

First Batch now up in our Etsy Store HERE

After several months of trying different methods, rigorous washing machine endurance tests, and my whole family pitching in, we’re pleased to announce that Strangeling T-Shirts are in the works!

I have long wanted a high quality t-shirt option for my work, and we have decided to produce them ourselves, at home, using a special dye-sublimation technique. This is the method that works best and provides us with the best quality – the images hold up to our tough “washing machine test” (ie, putting them in the washer & dryer over & over again) without fading, cracking, etc. like some other methods, and we are very happy with it.

Very soon we will be implementing an option to place orders for tshirts in ALL SIZES (yes, plus sizes, kids’ sizes, extended sizes, juniors’ sizes, etc.), with options to choose all sorts of coloured shirts (black shirts, white shirts, tie-dyed and patterned shirts, – our sublimation transfer process works perfectly on all of them). Prepare for an announcement soon when this is launched – it will mean that you can choose your own size, colour, etc. for whichever painting design you like!

In the meantime though, while we wait for incoming shirt stock and website-admin shenanigans, we are listing a handful of these new shirts (our first finished batch of prototypes) in our Etsy store. They are already selling fast, and I apologize in advance if we are already nearly sold out. This initial batch is just our test-market of various sizes, shapes, colours & images – again, in the future at Strangeling.com we will be implementing a launch site where you can choose your own sizes, etc. In the meantime check out what we have up on Etsy HERE – click on the “CLOTHING” link at the top left hand corner of the screen to find whatever shirts we have available! (And check out all the other neat jewelry, prints & stuff too of course).

Disney Preview – “Tangled”

One of the paintings debuting at Disneyland’s WonderGround Gallery
for my July 12-13 Event – details HERE

Another Disney piece – Rapunzel from Tangled! Sneak-peek – a few hours away from finishing still – this is a piece for Disneyland’s WonderGround Gallery in California – I will be debuting her on July 12 & 13th – I’ll be there BOTH days this time (details about the event are HERE). I’ve had the joy of sorting through a lot of the original concept art from Disney’s “Tangled” going back several years, and as some of you Disney-scholars out there may know, part of the film’s aesthetic was based on Fragonard’s “The Swing” (obviously one of my favourites too).

This scene features the iconic image of Disney’s Rapunzel in a swing of her own hair, and of course the little chameleon Pascal is up in the branches 16×20 acrylic painting on panel, the original painting, prints & merchandise will be available at WonderGround Gallery.

These will be WonderGround Exclusives for purchase only from the gallery at Disneyland (and YES they are happy to ship WORLDWIDE via email or phone orders). Also the entire month of July WonderGround will be having a special “Artisan Showcase” fetauring a month long display of my non-Disney personal art as well (I’ll just be there in person on July 12-13 though, so try to stop by if you are in California that weekend!). ©Disney – licensed and used under contract.

eBay Options for Jasmine/Disney

Want to find my Disney stuff on eBay? Follow my Disney Collection HERE

I know that a lot of you are eBayers, and a lot of you are wanting to collect my Disney art & merchandise, so I have created a special “Jasmine/Disney eBay Collection” page on eBay HERE

Basically, my Disney art is only sold by Disney (whether it be at Disneyland, Disney World, the various Disney galleries, or Disney branded Hamilton Collection products, etc.). As licensed/contracted work, I can’t make & sell them myself. A lot of my Disney artwork & merchandise is exclusive to WonderGround Gallery out in California, and I myself am way down here in Florida, so I can’t really go grab stuff to re-sell myself either for fans. But – a lot of people who DO live in California very helpfully regularly stop at the gallery at Disneyland to buy stuff to re-sell on eBay (yes, at a little increase in price, but hey – that’s what makes their travel time/costs worthwhile!).

Every day we scour eBay and gather together these auction listings to helpfully put them all in on eBay Collection page ( HERE) – so you can find all of this stuff in one spot. These are all different sellers, they are not being sold by me, they all have different payment & shipping options, etc. – but they are all authentic Jasmine Becket-Griffith / Disney products. If you bookmark or “Follow” the collection pagehere, you can see the new stuff as it comes out, updated with new auctions daily.

For those of you who do not use eBay, always remember that WonderGround Gallery is happy to ship worldwide, and they now take orders via email – [email protected] – and telephone (714) 781-4565.

This Saturday at Pop Gallery

Ariel – Little Mermaid – Work-in-Progress

partofyourworldwip1

Work-in-progress! Another new Disney painting, very early stages – featuring Ariel from The Little Mermaid – this time for the Pop Gallery & Bradford Exchange part of Disney. I’ve basically “sketched” (in brown, grey, black & white paint & water, with a very tiny brush) out the scene, mostly focusing on the details of the main characters – Ariel, Sebastian and Flounder. I’ve refined this “sketch” in paint several times, covering up what I don’t want with opaque paint, strengthening lines I do want in darker paint. Now I’m starting to lay in washes of watered layers of colour, mostly for myself just to figure out where I’m going with the colour palette & figuring out my light source (mostly coming in from the top down through the grotto underwatr), etc. I’ve done a bit of shading on Ariel, but nothing much more than that. Many more hours to go, I’ll post another work-in-progress pic later. This is one of the pieces that will debut at my May 3rd event at Pop Gallery Orlando here at Downtown Disney in Florida! The original painting & giclees will be available at Pop Gallery, giclees & other merchandise will also be available online & through the Hamilton Collection/Bradford Exchange. This is an original acrylic painting, 16×20, will be in a big gorgeous ornate frame and priced at $6400 – if you are interested in purchasing the original please contact Pop Gallery at [email protected] or call them at: 407-827-8200 and ask to be put on the Jasmine VIP List for “Part of Your World” – Jasmine’s Little Mermaid painting. Licensed & ©Disney.

Tableaux Vivants I Work-in-Progress

tableauxvivants1wip1

Work-in-progress! The first in a new series I’m working on called “Tableaux Vivants” (living pictures) – a surreal incorporation of my traditional female figurative portraits along with tiny magical scenes from historic or mythological imagery. This first painting features the Triumph of Galatea with a rococo portrait – I really love how it’s turning out, got few more hours of work left. She will debut at MegaCon (here in Orlando at the Orange County Convention Center March 21-23, I’m at booth 814-816), is on a 12×16 panel going into super crazy ornate rococo frame – 27″x31″ external measurement – and will be priced at $4500. If you are interested in the original painting, email me at [email protected] – preference will be given to MegaCon attendees but we are putting together a collectors’ inquiry list to contact if she remains unsold after the show.
