Unseelie Court: War

$13.99$125.00

The second painting in a series I’m debuting called “The Unseelie Court” – specifically for the subset inspired by the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse – I debuted & sold this piece for the Dragon*Con 2014 Art Show.   Each painting in my Unseelie Court series depicts important individuals or families within the Unseelie Court.  Exploring the darker side of the Fairy Court, the Unseelie faeries take their theming from slightly unpleasant aspects of the magical and natural world.  But of course despite being wicked they will have a beautiful and refinded elegance about them…. This particular painting in the series symbolizes “War”.  I tried to use a variety of imagery from the medieval times all the way up to contemporary or even futuristic war implements, trying to capture the timelessness and inevitability of war in general.  The fabric of her camouflage dress fades into Gros’ portrait of Napoleon & his troops on the viewer’s right, and Goya’s “Third of May” painting on your left.  Lots of weapons, smoke, and violence in this one (at least compared to my more lighthearted works).  The dark raven and the white dove of peace weigh in on this human folly, the little banners they are carrying are written in Latin script and loosely translate to “War – What is it good for?” and “Absolutely Nothing” (from the Edwin Starr song, of course!).  The original piece sold at the show, but prints, canvases & posters are available.  Stay tuned for Death and Famine later, and be sure to check out my gallery for Pestilence.  This is my own original acrylic painting.

Limited Edition Canvas Prints are SOLD OUT. However, we have now released the Open Edition Remarqued Canvas Prints – they are truly the next best thing. They are the same high quality canvases stretched on boards & ready to hang, but are open edition. This means that they are not numbered, not dated, not signed by Jasmine, not embellished by Jasmine in paint. They are however remarqued with metallic ink on the front with the official JBG seal/remarque (as shown in the photo), and come with a Certificate of Authenticty signed by Jasmine herself. The open edition canvases are shaped a bit differently than the sold-out Limited Editions, they are 12″x16″ and are on thicker stretcher boards, so they are a bit deeper. Open Edition Canvases ship from our Kansas location.

Glossy Photo Prints

All Glossy Photo Prints are printed on a glossy photo paper with Canon Lucia archival inks and signed ON THE BACK by ME, the artist. Small prints are printed on 8.5×11″ sheets and large prints on 13×19″ sheets, but the printed area will reflect the odd dimensions of the painting itself. When you select the print size and type that you want to purchase, the Printed Area Dimensions will appear below your selection. Please note the dimensions to make sure that the print you select is a size that will work for your needs. We cannot provide custom print sizes at this time. What you see offered is what is available.

ABOUT THE CANVAS PRINTS:

The original painting and the Limited Edition Hand-Embellished Canvas canvas prints are now sold out, but Open Edition Canvases are now available. These are the next best thing to owning a Lt. Ed. Canvas. These prints are made on canvas with Canon Lucia archival inks. They are wrapped on boards and stretched over a frame and shipped ready-to-hang. The canvas sides are printed in black, creating a natural self-framing effect, so you don’t have to purchase an additional frame if you don’t want to. The entire piece is also painted with a UV varnish and then heat set for maximum protection and longevity. They are truly beautiful pieces and it is often difficult to tell them apart from the originals. We only release these open edition canvases once the 25 Limited Edition Canvases have been sold. The open edition canvases are shaped a bit differently than the sold-out Limited Editions, they are 12″x16″, and are on deeper/thicker gallery wrapped boards than usual, and match the profile of those that are sold at Pop Gallery, etc. The Open Editions are set to a specific size format and there may be some cropping around the edges, refer to the photo of the remarqued canvas above (not the primary print photo but the secondary image, showing the canvas with the metallic JBG remarque for specfic reference).
