Unseelie Court WAR Work in Progress

Work-in-progress – a piece debuting at – “Unseelie Court: War” – following my previous “Pestilence” piece from last show. The first four in the series are loosely based on the four horsemen of the apocalypse, and “War” of course combines a lot of war-based imagery, both past & present. This is an acrylic painting on panel, measuring 16″x20″, the original painting will debut at Dragon*Con’s Art Show (I’ll be there August 29 – September 1 Hyatt Regency Atlanta Grand Hall West) so those attending Dragon*Con will have the first dibs on her in person.  Details about the Dragon*Con Art Show are HERE

We are taking names for the “backup list” after the show if she’s not sold, so if you are interested in purchasing the original painting, email me at [email protected] with the subject line “Unseelie Court: War Original Painting”. She’ll be $5200 for DC attendees (it will be a bit higher to those after the show), with the prints & canvases (starting at $9.99) available at strangeling.com shortly after the show. “Death” and “Famine” will follow soon. ©Jasmine Becket-Griffith

A beautiful installment in my very popular “Loup-Garou” series (French for “werewolf”) she was also my contribution to the 78 Tarot project (a neat project with 78 different artists illustrating a tarot deck). My assigned card was The High Priestess. Rather than the more typical iconography of the black column and the white column, I’ve gone a wolfish route and am gave the priestess a Black Wolf and a White Wolf. Strangeling T-Shirts

First Batch now up in our Etsy Store HERE

After several months of trying different methods, rigorous washing machine endurance tests, and my whole family pitching in, we’re pleased to announce that Strangeling T-Shirts are in the works!

I have long wanted a high quality t-shirt option for my work, and we have decided to produce them ourselves, at home, using a special dye-sublimation technique.  This is the method that works best and provides us with the best quality – the images hold up to our tough “washing machine test” (ie, putting them in the washer & dryer over & over again) without fading, cracking, etc. like some other methods, and we are very happy with it.

Very soon we will be implementing an option to place orders for tshirts in ALL SIZES (yes, plus sizes, kids’ sizes, extended sizes, juniors’ sizes, etc.), with options to choose all sorts of coloured shirts (black shirts, white shirts, tie-dyed and patterned shirts, – our sublimation transfer process works perfectly on all of them).  Prepare for an announcement soon when this is launched – it will mean that you can choose your own size, colour, etc. for whichever painting design you like!

In the meantime though, while we wait for incoming shirt stock and website-admin shenanigans,  we are listing a handful of these new shirts (our first finished batch of prototypes) in our Etsy store.  They are already selling fast, and I apologize in advance if we are already nearly sold out.  This initial batch is just our test-market of various sizes, shapes, colours & images – again, in the future at Strangeling.com we will be implementing a launch site where you can choose your own sizes, etc.  In the meantime check out what we have up on Etsy HERE – click on the “CLOTHING” link at the top left hand corner of the screen to find whatever shirts we have available!  (And check out all the other neat jewelry, prints & stuff too of course).

Disney Preview – “Tangled”

One of the paintings debuting at Disneyland’s WonderGround Gallery
for my July 12-13 Event – details HERE

Another Disney piece – Rapunzel from Tangled! Sneak-peek – a few hours away from finishing still – this is a piece for Disneyland’s WonderGround Gallery in California – I will be debuting her on July 12 & 13th – I’ll be there BOTH days this time (details about the event are HERE). I’ve had the joy of sorting through a lot of the original concept art from Disney’s “Tangled” going back several years, and as some of you Disney-scholars out there may know, part of the film’s aesthetic was based on Fragonard’s “The Swing” (obviously one of my favourites too).

This scene features the iconic image of Disney’s Rapunzel in a swing of her own hair, and of course the little chameleon Pascal is up in the branches 16×20 acrylic painting on panel, the original painting, prints & merchandise will be available at WonderGround Gallery.

These will be WonderGround Exclusives for purchase only from the gallery at Disneyland (and YES they are happy to ship WORLDWIDE via email or phone orders). Also the entire month of July WonderGround will be having a special “Artisan Showcase” fetauring a month long display of my non-Disney personal art as well (I’ll just be there in person on July 12-13 though, so try to stop by if you are in California that weekend!). ©Disney – licensed and used under contract.

eBay Options for Jasmine/Disney

Want to find my Disney stuff on eBay? Follow my Disney Collection HERE

I know that a lot of you are eBayers, and a lot of you are wanting to collect my Disney art & merchandise, so I have created a special “Jasmine/Disney eBay Collection” page on eBay HERE

Basically, my Disney art is only sold by Disney (whether it be at Disneyland, Disney World, the various Disney galleries, or Disney branded Hamilton Collection products, etc.).  As licensed/contracted work, I can’t make & sell them myself.  A lot of my Disney artwork & merchandise is exclusive to WonderGround Gallery out in California, and I myself am way down here in Florida, so I can’t really go grab stuff to re-sell myself either for fans.  But – a lot of people who DO live in California very helpfully regularly stop at the gallery at Disneyland to buy stuff to re-sell on eBay (yes, at a little increase in price, but hey – that’s what makes their travel time/costs worthwhile!).

Every day we scour eBay and gather together these auction listings to helpfully put them all in on eBay Collection page ( HERE) – so you can find all of this stuff in one spot.  These are all different sellers, they are not being sold by me, they all have different payment & shipping options, etc. – but they are all authentic Jasmine Becket-Griffith / Disney products.  If you bookmark or “Follow” the collection pagehere, you can see the new stuff as it comes out, updated with new auctions daily.

For those of you who do not use eBay, always remember that WonderGround Gallery is happy to ship worldwide, and they now take orders via email – [email protected]  – and telephone (714) 781-4565.

Tableaux Vivants I Work-in-Progress

tableauxvivants1wip1

Work-in-progress!  The first in a new series I’m working on called “Tableaux Vivants” (living pictures) – a surreal incorporation of my traditional female figurative portraits along with tiny magical scenes from historic or mythological imagery.  This first painting features the Triumph of Galatea with a rococo portrait – I really love how it’s turning out, got few more hours of work left.  She will debut at MegaCon (here in Orlando at the Orange County Convention Center March 21-23, I’m at booth 814-816), is on a 12×16 panel going into super crazy ornate rococo frame – 27″x31″ external measurement – and will be priced at $4500.  If you are interested in the original painting, email me at [email protected] – preference will be given to MegaCon attendees but we are putting together a collectors’ inquiry list to contact if she remains unsold after the show.

Work in progress, trilobites

trilobitewip2014

Work-in-progress! This painting features one of my favourite creatures – trilobites! I collect their fossils, and enjoy painting pictures of them. This beauty loves them too – this painting is for another oracle deck project, this deck is all water-themed, being written by my two sisters Kachina Glenn and Amber Logan & being published by Blue Angel Publishing. This piece is definitely coming along nicely, but many hours still to go – I’ve only roughly painted in the trilobites and still have a lot of work to do on her hair & face – If you are interested in the original painting, contact me at [email protected] – I am taking names for the “first dibs” list for direct sale from me, the artist. This original painting is acrylics on an 16×8, panel, will come gallery cradled – 2″ deep wooden sided masonite panel, and will be priced at around the $3300 mark depending on how long it takes me to finish. Collector inquiries will be given preference based on chronological order of contact, please put the words “Original Painting Inquiry” in your subject line so we are sure to see it!

Work-in-progress – Snow White and Rose Red

snowwhiteandrosered2014WIP

Work-in-progress! This painting – “Snow White and Rose Red” is for my long-awaited Fairytale Oracle deck project with Lucy Cavendish & Blue Angel Publishing. As Snow White and Rose Red is about two peasant girls, this is intentionally a nod to William Bouguereau, 1800s French painter who is the master of peasant-girl paintings, hehe. These two sisters are shown early in the story (not to be confused with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs – a completely unrelated story of a character with a similarly translated name, ahem), Snow White will have light clothing and hair, Rose Red will have darker, redder colours, and this will correspond with their two forest friends – a cardinal bird and a chickadee! Still many, many hours of work left.
If you are interested in the original painting, contact me at [email protected] – I am taking names for the “first dibs” list for direct sale from me, the artist. This original painting is acrylics on a 16×20, panel, will come in a nice woodsy frame, and will be priced at around the $6000 mark depending on how long it takes me to finish. Collector inquiries will be given preference based on chronological order of contact, please put the words “Original Painting Inquiry” in your subject line so we are sure to see it!

Work-in-progress “Red Mask”

redmaskwip

Work-in-progress! This painting – “Red Mask” is for an upcoming group show at the Eight And Sand Gallery in Seattle, WA – the theme of the show is “Red”, and I’m just now working on the bright RED facepaint mask of this lovely girl. Still got several hours of work to do on this one, but she is coming along nicely. The “Red” show will run from February 8-March 9 at Eight and Sand Gallery in Georgetown, Seattle. If you are interested in the original painting, contact the curator Alex at [email protected] – let her know you are interested in being on contact list for “Red Mask” by Jasmine Becket-Griffith. This original painting is acrylics on an 8×10 oval, will be in a silver frame and will be priced at $2200. While I won’t be able to attend the show opening in person unfortunately, I will however be coming to Seattle on February 21-23 for FaerieCon West, so if you are in the area definitely check out both events!

Stilleven V: Roemer and Important Ordering Info

Hi everybody!  Just a quick head’s up to let you all know that Matt & Jasmine will be out of town through January 16th.   Most orders will ship out as usual, but orders with Limited Edition Canvas prints will have a delay of a few days (as Jasmine needs to hand paint them each individually they must wait until she returns home on the 16th).  Thank you all so much!

“Stilleven V: Roemer”
11″x14″ Acrylic Painting $3800 – SOLD
Signed Prints (starting at $9.99) are here at Strangeling.com & yes, we ship worldwide!  Hand embellished Limited Edition Canvases are also available on the same page, just use the drop-down box on the Fine Art Prints selector to choose the Canvas option.

From Jasmine:
“Stilleven V: Roemer” – the fifth in a series of works I have planned that feature “deconstructed” elements of still lifes inspired by the Dutch master painters of the 1500-1600s, along with faeries & nymphs (of course!). A “Roemer” refers to the wineglasses with the raspberry shaped prunts on the stems that are often featured prominently in Dutch paintings. A lot of fun details in this one, all popular elements included in famous Dutch still lifes. This is my own original acrylic painting, the original painting herself is sold, but I have prints, posters & other merchandise available!

Limited Edition Canvas prints are available directly from me and are at Strangeling.com – 11×14″, $125, hand embellished by me in acrylic paints, signed & numbered out of 25 ever made, wrapped on wooden boards & ready-to-hang. You can order the Limited Edition Canvas prints by using the Fine Art Prints drop down menu and choosing the Lt. Ed. Canvas option at strangeling.com here as well as the signed glossy paper photo prints (on sale this week only $9.99).

Enjoy!
